My Blog List

The first step in ending domestic violence is understanding our own personal history, taking responsiblity for our part in it, making a conscious decision to create change within ourselves. With knowledge there is healing, compassion and forgiveness, and above all the chance to break the circle of pain, allowing our children the joy and freedom of a violent free life.

September 13th 2009

In two more days we take off on The Women in Crisis, journey. Thought we had a great blog cast today until we realized that the mic for the headset was acting up, which was really really frustrating, because everything was going to well! Well that just means that next time we will do things a bit differently.

We are all packed, and God willing everything is accounted for and if it's not Val will take good care of us (my wonderful, wonderful friend and right hand woman!!) Once again we can not begin to thank all of you enough who have supported us and cheered us on as we head out into the great unknown!

Risk

Nothing is as perilous
as stagnation.
You risk everything
if you risk nothing.
Do something you feel you
can not do.
Challenge makes us stronger.
Be courageous.
Take a chance,
what do you have to lose?
Dare yourself.

The Risk Card from the Wisdom of the Crone

And the next time you see a young woman in the streets, remember she is someones daughter, sister, niece or granddaughter. Take a moment to say hello, buy her a meal, remember she could be your daughter. Today love your children as if there were no tomorrow, teach them tolerance, compassion and show them how to communicate in healthy positive ways. And above all open your heart and listen to what they have to say.
